Gilley’s-anchored entertainment center

Today’s recommended read is in the Houston Business Journal …

The proposed 20-acre sports and entertainment district would include a hotel, theater, museums, restaurants and townhomes. It will also be anchored by a Gilley’s-themed bar, restaurant and dance venue, similar to the iconic Gilley’s Club, an immensely popular bar and honky tonk in Pasadena, Texas, that served as the central location in “Urban Cowboy.” It was destroyed by a fire over 20 years ago.
