As every bride knows, planning a wedding can be a very stressful time. With all the preparations to be made, you certainly want to limit any surprises that will occur on your wedding day. Unfortunately, surprises do tend to come with the territory. However, you can at least control one small part of this wonderful day, and that is to be prepared with a Bride's Emergency Kit.
A Bride's Emergency Kit contains items that may be needed on short notice, such as being able to repair a ripped hem or replacing a ripped pair of nylons. With "Kit" in hand, you'll be well prepared for these small "emergencies".
To start, purchase or sew up a small cloth bag. Decorate the bag with some ribbons or other type of decoration to make it more festive.
Include the following in the kit:
- 1 pair of pantyhose
- 1 small sewing kit (a needle & various colors of thread)
- 1 small bottle of clear nail polish (good for nails or stopping runs in nylons)
- 1 small bottle hairspray (get sample size bottles at drug stores)
- 1 small package of wet wipes
- 1 lipstick (try to get small samples from a cosmetic department or from an Avon representative)
- 1 package of Certs or gum (to freshen breath)
- 1 small package of Kleenex
- 1 small container of Aspirin or other headache medicine
- 1 small bottle of foundation or foundation powder (for touch ups)
- 1 small pair scissors
- 2 or 3 Band-Aids
- A few safety pins in assorted sizes (for fallen hems, seam splits, etc.)
- A few hairpins
- A couple of tampons or napkins
Being prepared with this small kit can make a big difference in your frustration level should something unexpected happen, especially when your attention is focused on other important details. In fact, why not create one for each of your female attendants? I'm sure they'd be very appreciated!
